Interior

Chevrolet does not cut corners when it comes to cabin comfort; it’s evident in the Bolt. Each Chevy Bolt EV interior is created with premium materials and extends the option to relax to each of its five passengers. With the available leather-appointed seats, the 2023 Bolt EV cabin can be a place to unwind. The driver has further control with the power eight-way driver’s seat to make sure they’re at the perfect distance between at ease and in control.

The rest of the cabin works smoothly together, each change making for easier accessibility and limitless possibilities for efficiency. The wheel’s design is slightly more angular and sport-inspired for a more manageable grip. The gear shift was switched for gear buttons, another step towards convenience for those where gear shifts may have been an issue. This shift towards buttons also extends towards the electric parking brake directly to the right of the drive gear button. The gear shifts are still located directly in front of the two center cup holders, which are situated in front of the center console storage. Under the gear shifts, there is a smart storage cubby hole for things like a purse or first aid kit.

More storage space can be found in either the hidden cargo floor areas, the ample hatchback area, or, if the seats aren’t filled, the generous second-row legroom can be used to hold anything the cargo area cannot. The second-row seats do fold down to extend the hatchback storage to 57 cubic feet. Intertwined within that space is plenty of advanced technology to make the drive fun and secure for everyone.

Technology & Safety Features

The 2023 Chevy Bolt EV comes with a 10.2-inch color touchscreen Infotainment center. The Infotainment center is prepared with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and optional Alexa Built-In. The Infotainment touchscreen also gives you access to the Bolt EV’s driving history, range impact information, and a power flow indicator. Knowing that new EV drivers may have a little range anxiety, the Bolt EV was created to inspire confidence in its driver with an energy distribution display with easy visibility behind the wheel on the eight-inch graphic display Driver Information screen.

The Chevrolet Bolt EV comes with an HD Rear Vision Camera to provide you with a better concept of what is around your vehicle. Each Chevy Bolt comes with Chevy Safety Assist: Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Following Distance Indicator, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, and Intellibeam Auto High Beam Assist. Click the link below to learn more about the specifics of each feature.

Chevy Safety Assist

You can choose to equip your Chevy Bolt EV with the available Adaptive Cruise Control or HD Surround Vision. Adaptive Cruise Control can control how close you follow the car in front of you and keep you in the lines of some highways; it is not a complete autonomous driving feature. HD Surround Vision is the use of cameras and sensors to provide a digital overhead view of your Bolt EV and its surroundings.

Reviews

Kelley Blue Book experts rate the 2023 Chevy Bolt EV a 4.6, while consumers rate it higher at 4.8 stars. With a reference to the new paint choice (mentioned later), the KBB review emphasizes the new lower price, the standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the all-electric 259-mile range. Further past the list of positives to owning a Bolt EV, the KBB review mentions the smooth driving style of the Bolt EV and the “classiness” of the cabin. Read the full Kelley Blue Book Review

Car and Driver rates the 2023 Chevrolet Bolt EV an eight out of 10. The review starts with a nod to the evolution of the EV and a separation between the EV and EUV. The Car and Driver list of positives also notes the Bolt’s MSRP and 259-mile electric driving range, but the Car and Driver list makes a note to address the amount of space for the Bolt EV is agreeable for the size of the vehicle itself. When in comparison to other vehicles in its class, it comes in fourth. Read Car and Driver’s full review.

Exterior

The exterior of the 2023 Chevrolet Bolt EV looks like a compact hatchback, but it is technically more of a wagon silhouette. The 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV is the compact electric version, which you can learn more about here. The Bolt EV exterior design was refreshed for 2022, and it keeps most of the important features in the new 2023 model year. Examples of this include the LED headlights and illuminated charge port. The Bolt EV exterior color options include:

  • Ice Blue Metallic
  • Summit White
  • Mosaic Black Metallic
  • Bright Blue Metallic
  • Gray Ghost Metallic
  • Silver Flare Metallic
  • Cherry Red Tintcoat
  • Radiant Red Tintcoat  (The Radiant Red Tintcoat is new for the 2023 model year.)

Performance

The 2023 Bolt EV performs perfectly for new electric vehicle owners and those who’ve had one before. The all-electric motor provides the EV with 200 horsepower and 266 pound-feet. of torque. The Bolt can go from zero to 60 in as little as 6.5 seconds.

On a full charge, the 2023 Bolt EV has a 259-mile all-electric range. For comparison, Kansas City, Missouri is roughly 157 miles away from Joplin. That’s plenty of charge to get there and drive around a bit without worry. Once there, you can find a charging station before heading back to Joplin.

Regenerative Braking, another feature the Bolt EV is fitted with, uses the energy accumulated from the slowing of the vehicle to charge the battery. This works in tandem with One Pedal Driving, where the pressure on the accelerator can, predicatively, speed the car up, or even with the lack of pressure, bring the EV to a complete stop without using the brakes. For quick or emergency braking, you will still need to use the brakes.
