We’ll talk about features unique to each trim below but before we do, know that the Chevy Silverado 1500 comes in several different trim levels and each comes with its own standard features. In addition to that, each is customizable to become your ideal truck and fit your lifestyle. The 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 trim levels are WT (Work Truck), Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, and High Country.

Let’s discuss the exterior.

Continue to take the path you choose, no matter how muddy or obscure with the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The Silverado has a broad frame as in previous years, but with the 2022 model year’s upgrades, the foundation of the truck was bolstered. The upgrades continue with the redesign of the Silverado’s headlamps, front bumper, and grille. Moving to the side of the vehicle, the 2022 Silverado has new wheel options: 18, 20, and 22 inches.

Customize your 2022 Silverado 1500 further with the paint hue of your choice. Color options include:

  • Dark Ash Metallic
  • Red Hot
  • Glacier Blue Metallic
  • Silver Ice Metallic
  • Summit White
  • Black
  • Northsky Blue Metallic
  • Sand Dune

Additional paint options for advanced trims are available: Iridescent Pearl Tricoat, Cherry Red Tintcoat. If you’re looking for one of these speciality colors, you’ll need one of the following trims, a LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, or High Country.

Cab Configurations and Bed Lengths

The 2022 Silverado 1500 comes in crew, double, and regular cab configurations. There are standard, short, and long bed options to match the cab. The max cargo and passenger space can be found in a crew cab with the standard bed. The standard bed has 89.1-inches between the rear of the cab and the tailgate. A short bed sits with 80.6-inches, while the long bed has a whopping 90-inch bed to carry your cargo.

A glimpse into the cabin before we delve into talking about the interior will show how spacious each cab option is when paired with the beds. Front shoulder room is set at 66 inches, which is just about 5.5 feet. Front legroom is stretched to 44.5 inches, which is just shy of four feet long. Front headroom varies between 43-inches and 43.1 inches depending on the cab. The regular cab wins that extra 0.1 inch in headroom.

Engine Options

There are four engines powering the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The standard engine is a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that produces 310 horsepower and 348 lb.-ft. of torque. The tried and true 5.3-liter V8 engine is an option and it produces 355 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of torque, with or without dynamic fuel management. The most powerful engine in the lineup is the 6.2-liter V8 engine producing 420 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque. Paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, the 6.2-liter gives the Silverado a maximum towing capacity of 13,300 pounds. The 6.2-liter comes standard for the Silverado ZR2 edition and is available for other trims. The most economical choice is the 3.0-liter Duramax turbo-diesel engine with 277 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque. This diesel engine allows the Silverado to achieve up to 31 mpg on the highway. Each of these engines can be paired with either two- or four-wheel-drive.

Let’s move the discussion into the cabin.

The 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500’s cabin is spacious and comfortable. There is plenty of legroom for each passenger, including those in the backseat, without overly sacrificing storage space. Extra storage spaces can be found in under-seat storage areas and covered armrest spaces that are specific to various Silverado 1500 trim levels. Two USB ports can be found in the front seat. For the front seats, you can choose between 40/20/40 split-bench front seats with under-seat storage or front bucket seats.

The interior of the 2022 Silverado 1500 comes in a Jet Black and Graystone color palette. For accents, you can choose between the new real wood trim and leather seating.

The new Silverado 1500 comes with eight available cameras that show up to 14 camera views. You’ll have access to those views on the 13.4-inch infotainment touchscreen, which is standard on the LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, ZR2, and High Country trims. The touchscreen can be connected to your phone via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto and has built-in Google Assistant as an option. The cabin contains seven Bose Premium speakers and a rich bass woofer option for complete control of how your surroundings sound. Behind the steering wheel of the Silverado 1500 lies a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. You’ll have your speed, drive summary, and recent miles per gallon (and more) easily accessible. The digital cluster lets you read the information you need without having to squint.
